the RECTORy

BERKSHIRE

Project

This Rectory home is situated in the Berkshire countryside.

We had previously worked with these clients on their London home many years ago, and were thrilled to be invited back to update this stunning house. The brief was to breathe new life into this historic building, concentrating on the Kitchen / Pantry, Utility and Boot rooms to create functional spaces for modern-day living whilst still protecting the architectural period features.

These clients were lovers of bold colour, and whilst this is a slight departure from our classic style, we fully embraced this new approach and love the result. Starting with a neutral base, we added pops of muted primary colours to create character and contrast. We preserved all the uneven angles and kept many of the original surfaces of the walls and doors intact which created wonderful organic texture. Vertical panelling in the kitchen was a practical addition for the kitchen installation, but it also added interest through the introduction of colour.

A stunning new kitchen with cabinetry from British Standard Cupboards resulted in a timeless finish with functionality at its core.
